Now accepting applications for co-op scholarships

Class of 2027, win up to $2,000 for college

Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative will award scholarships up to $2,000 each to high school seniors graduating in the Class of 2027 whose parents are active co-op members. Scholarships are for post-high school education at an accredited technical school, college or university. Two delegates will also be selected to represent our co-op and community for the 2027 Co-op Youth Tour of Washington, D.C.

Polk-Burnett scholarships are based on community service, not academic grades, athletic performance or financial need. Candidates are required to provide proof of active co-op membership and community service. Winners will be selected at our January 2027 board meeting.

“Supporting co-op families and investing in our next generation is important to our board and aligns with our co-op values,” said Polk-Burnett General Manager Steve Stroshane. “Since 1987, we have awarded $1.5 million in scholarships to help the children of co-op members pursue education for their future.”

Polk-Burnett’s scholarship and Youth Tour program is funded with unclaimed Capital Credits that if not used for education would be forfeited to the state, and by the generosity of co-op members who donate Capital Credits.

Scholarship applications will be on the co-op’s website beginning September 1. The application deadline is January 1, 2027.
