Calling all third graders: Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative and the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association are seeking entries for the 2021 electrical safety poster contest. All local children in third grade are invited to submit an original poster that supports electrical safety.

“Polk-Burnett provides safe, reliable electricity to power our lives, but it’s important to understand that if used improperly, electricity can be dangerous,” said Joan O’Fallon, Polk-Burnett’s communications director. “We are sponsoring this poster contest to promote safety awareness for local youth. We remind you and your family to be safe around electricity and electrical equipment.”

Prizes

All who enter will have a chance to win local and state-level prizes.

Three local winners from Polk-Burnett’s service territory will each receive a $25 gift card from WECA and Polk-Burnett. The three winning entries will also be submitted to the state contest, for a chance to win state-level prizes.

The top three prizes in the state contest are a chrome book for first place, a $100 gift card for second place and a $75 gift card for third place.

Winning posters will be shared by the co-ops to help educate all kids about the safe use of electricity.
