Thank you to everyone who came out to Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative’s Member Appreciation Day Friday, August 13. 750 co-op members and guests attended the event outside our Centuria office for food, DJ music, giveaways and prize drawings.

Co-op employees served root beer floats, and food trucks provided kettle corn, mini donuts, cheese curds and BBQ pork sliders. Kids tried on linemen gear and enjoyed bucket truck rides with co-op linemen. Guests of all ages took selfies with Polk-Burnett’s Solar Sam mascot and tried a hand generator to light up an LED.

“We always enjoy meeting our members,” said General Manager Steve Stroshane. “As a cooperative, we exist to serve you. This was a fun day for members, directors and employees, where we can thank you for your co-op membership.”

Insulated tote bags and LED nightlights were given to all members who attended, and the first 100 kids received a $5 DQ gift card. There were also co-op coloring books for the kids, and an attendance prize drawing for $50 electric bill credits; 10 winning names were drawn.

The cooperative was established 83 years ago in 1938 with a tradition of annual meeting picnics for members. Today, that cooperative spirit continues. Polk-Burnett remains member and community focused, providing reliable electricity with efficiency and extraordinary service to more than 21,000 local families, farms and businesses.
