Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative will host a Member Appreciation Day Friday, August 12, noon to 3 p.m. Co-op members are invited to the Centuria office, 1001 State Road 35, for food, DJ music, giveaways and prize drawings. All activities will be held outside and in the garage, rain or shine.

Food will be served from local food trucks, including kettle corn, mini donuts, cheese curds and BBQ pork sliders. Co-op employees will serve root beer floats.

Kids can try on lineworker gear, make electricity with a hand generator and ride in a co-op bucket truck. Members of all ages can meet Polk-Burnett’s Solar Sam mascot and learn about SunTuria Solar, the first utility-scale solar in Polk and Burnett counties.

Attendance prizes this year include a rechargeable battery-powered chainsaw, weed whip and blower, plus 10 $50 electric bill credits.

Can koozies and fly swatters will be given to all members who attend, and the first 150 kids will receive a $5 DQ gift card. There will also be co-op coloring books and frisbees for the kids.

“We look forward to gathering with co-op members to share our appreciation,” said General Manager Steve Stroshane. “As a co-op, we exist to serve you. This is a fun day just for members, with no program or speakers. Come meet your co-op directors and employees, and let us thank you for your co-op membership. We hope you’ll join us Friday, August 12, noon to 3 p.m.”

Guests are asked to enter Polk-Burnett on the north side of the building. Food, giveaways and activities begin at noon. For more information, call 800-421-0283.
