Pictured: At last year’s Annual Meeting, more than 100 members of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative logged in to hear a cooperative report and participate in a Q&A forum with General Manager Steve Stroshane, right, and Board President Ed Gullickson, left. Co-op leaders invite members to join them online again this year for the 2022 Annual Meeting, Friday, June 10.

Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative will hold its 84th Annual Meeting for members Friday, June 10, at 1 p.m. The meeting will be online.

“We look forward to connecting with co-op members each year, but we know our members lead busy lives with many obligations,” said Board President Ed Gullickson. “Thanks to technology, Polk-Burnett’s Annual Meeting has transitioned to an online meeting. We’re now able to offer this important co-op meeting electronically to engage more members by being more efficient and convenient for you. For those of you who prefer an in-person event, we’ll hold our Member Appreciation Day August 12.”

“The co-op’s Annual Meeting is an important way for member-owners to learn about co-op performance and share your feedback,” said General Manager Steve Stroshane. “It’s also a time for co-op leaders to discuss priorities and challenges, along with the financial strength of the organization. We’re always looking to improve our service for our members and community.”

Agenda

The 84th Annual Meeting includes a state of the cooperative report by General Manager Steve Stroshane, results of the 2022 board election in co-op districts 4, 5 and 6, and a Q&A forum where members can voice comments and ask questions.

The meeting will also include three bylaw amendments for member approval. The purposes of bylaw changes are to: 1) expand qualifications for a member to serve as a director; 2) align the annual meeting bylaw with state statute; and 3) allow electronic notice of member meetings. Proposed bylaw amendments can be viewed online, at co-op offices or upon request by calling 800-421-0283, ext. 313.

Registration

Registration for Polk-Burnett’s Annual Meeting is open for co-op members on polkburnett.com. Once registered, an invitation link will be emailed to members to join the meeting June 10 at 1 p.m. No special software is required, but attendees will need an up-to-date computer or smart device with audio and an internet connection.

All members who attend online will be entered into a drawing for a $50 electric bill credit; 10 will be awarded.

The Annual Meeting will be recorded and posted on polkburnett.com about a week after the meeting. Printed reports will also be available upon request following the meeting.

“Remember, our Annual Meeting has moved to an online event, but we know there is still something special about meeting in person. We’ll host a Member Appreciation Day at our Centuria office Friday, August 12,” said Gullickson. “Watch for details in your Powerlines newsletter, and on the co-op’s website and Facebook page.”

Members will be asked to enter their account number to verify co-op membership. Thank you!
