2025 Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day is June 6

Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative will hold its 87th Annual Meeting Friday, June 6, at the co-op office in Centuria, 1001 State Road 35. General Manager Steve Stroshane and Board President Ed Gullickson will update members on the state of the electric cooperative. The annual meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. and is preceded by a member appreciation lunch beginning at 11 a.m. All Polk-Burnett Electric Co-op members are invited to attend; members are those who receive electricity from Polk-Burnett.

Member Appreciation Open House
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with BBQ pulled pork sandwiches from Hog Wild and root beer floats served by co-op directors and employees. All members who attend will receive a 5-gallon pail and will be entered into a member appreciation drawing for 10 $50 electric bill credits. The first 150 children will receive a $5 DQ card. The event also features a bounce house, inflatables and a lineworker selfie station with mini hard hats and co-op coloring books for children.

In recognition of the International Year of Cooperatives, Polk-Burnett has invited Royal Credit Union, Luck Food Co-op and the Inter-County Cooperative Publishing Association to attend; visit their displays to learn how all co-op businesses offer advantages of being local, member-owned, community focused and not for profit.

“The open house is a great time to have fun, meet co-op directors and employees, and learn about your co-op membership,” said Polk-Burnett General Manager Steve Stroshane. “Following the open house, we invite members to stay for the annual meeting.”

87th Annual Meeting
The annual meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes a cooperative performance report by Polk-Burnett General Manager Steve Stroshane and Board President Ed Gullickson, where members will hear updates on reliability, grid improvements, co-op financials and community engagement. Results of the 2025 board election in districts 4, 5 and 6 will be announced, and the meeting will conclude with a Q&A member forum, where members can submit questions and comments for co-op leaders. All members who stay for the meeting will be entered into the annual meeting drawing for ten $50 electric bill credits.

“We look forward to gathering with co-op members to share our appreciation and hear from you,” said Polk-Burnett Board President Ed Gullickson. “Our co-op was established 87 years ago in 1938 by members like you, rural families and farmers, who came together to bring reliable electricity beyond village limits. Today, our cooperative spirit continues. Polk-Burnett directors and employees serve more than 22,000 members and maintain 3,500 miles of power lines. Come see us in action at our 87th Annual Meeting. We hope you’ll join us Friday, June 6.”

Annual meeting and open house guests are asked to enter Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative on the north side of the Centuria office. All activities take place in the garage and outside. Doors open for registration and lunch at 11 a.m. Meeting highlights, election results and a list of drawing winners will be shared in the cooperative’s Powerlines newsletter and on polkburnett.com later this summer.
