Trees and shrubs planted near high-voltage overhead and underground power lines can eventually cause outages, slow maintenance and repairs, endanger lives and property, and even waste energy. To prevent Polk-Burnett from having to remove a tree or shrub, please see the planting guidelines below when planting. The planting guide pertains to the main overhead and underground high-voltage lines and does not apply to low-voltage service wires that run from the transformer to your meter socket. However, it's a good idea to allow clearance near overhead service wires when planting and you should leave at least six feet of clearance on each side of any underground lines.
Before you dig, please contact Digger's Hotline at 800-242-8511, at least three (3) working days before digging so that the public utilities can be marked.
