Polk-Burnett awards $144,000 in scholarships to Class of 2024

Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative is pleased to present 96 scholarships to the Class of 2024. Each scholarship winner will receive $1,500 to continue their education after high school. A total of $144,000 will be awarded to graduating seniors whose parents are co-op members.

Polk-Burnett’s scholarship program recognizes youth who demonstrate community service and make a difference in the lives of others.

“Giving back to our local community and youth is part of our mission as a co-op,” said Polk-Burnett Communications Director Joan O’Fallon. “We had an outstanding group of candidates this year! Thank you for your community service and congratulations to all 2024 graduates.”

Since 1987, Polk-Burnett has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to help students pursue advanced training and education. Scholarships do not affect electricity rates for members; they are funded with unclaimed Capital Credits that would be forfeited to the state if not used for education, and by the generosity of co-op members who donate their Capital Credits.
