Grant funding
Funding for Operation Round-Up is donated by member-owners of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative who volunteer to round up their monthly electricity bill to the next even dollar amount. For example, if your bill is $78.58, it will round up to $79.00 and your contribution for the month is 42¢. The donations from all members are combined and grants are awarded quarterly.
New members of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative are automatically enrolled in Operation Round-Up and will have their electric bill rounded up. Please notify our billing department if you'd like to opt out of this community giving program.
Polk-Burnett thanks its members for their donations. All Round-Up contributions stay in our community to improve our local quality of life.
Grant recipients
Every penny, nickel and dime collected through Operation Round-Up goes back into the community to support local efforts, such as equipment for local fire departments, youth programs and libraries. We invite you to view Polk-Burnett's Operation Round-Up grant recipients.
Grant eligibility
Grant recipients are selected by a committee of members based on goals to improve life in our local community through public safety, health care, self-sufficiency, cultural enhancement and youth programs. Grants are generally awarded to non-profit organizations where dollars can do the most good and benefit the most people in our community. Grants are generally not awarded to individuals or groups with religious, political or national affiliations.
Grant selection: The Operation Round-Up Board
Grants are selected by a committee of nine Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative members. They are members, like 8,000 of you, who round up their bill to support Operation Round-Up, and they are member-owners, like you, who purchase electricity from the cooperative. They represent each distict of the cooperative's service area. Our communities are their communities. They have an interest in making good decisions to get the most from Operation Round-Up funds to help improve the quality of life for all of our local communities. They meet four times a year and are not paid for their time, except mileage reimbursement. We thank them for their service.
Grant applications
Organizations interested in applying for a grant are invited to submit an application. Operation Round-Up instructions and applications are available online for your convenience. Applications are reviewed quarterly. Deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1.
